After examining the recent spate of unfounded accusations by Governor Nyesom Wike against Ibim Semenitari, former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Prof. Wole Soyinka, the R/S chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, can state without contradiction that what the embattled governor is exhibiting reminds of the last kick of a dying horse.

This conclusion is based on a number of developments that Nyesom Wike may never reveal to his associates and supporters in order not to further worsen the current Tsunami of decamping by his supporters.

Mrs. Ibim Semenitari is the current acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission [NDDC] which was used to funnel funds by the Jonathan Presidency to Nyesom Wike for the 2015 elections. The outgoing governor very well knows that as soon as Mrs. Semenitari begins to look into the Commission’s books, the trail of such funds will be established and will definitely lead substantially to Nyesom Wike.

The revelations to come will compete with Dasukigateand perhaps merit the sobriquet Wikegate. We have list of the Commission’s projects that were used to send slush funds for the elections. For example, one of the roads that was used to siphon away money for the election, was re-awarded by Nyesom Wike as soon as he was sworn in as governor to cover up the act as the Commission’s records show that same road has been fully paid for. He hopes to now pay for the road project with Rivers State taxpayers' money.

The accusation against the Hon. Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is Wike’s response to the fact that his activities as Minister for Education are presently being probed by the Federal Government with frightening revelations of large-scale fraud emerging. The discoveries span all the departments and agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education and those committed directly in the Ministry by the former Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The agencies include Universal Basic Education Commission [UBEC] where over N180 billion fraud was allegedly hatched and executed by the former Minister and wife of former President, Dame Patience Jonathan using various fronts. Another major agency where humongous fraud is being investigated is the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) where the former Minister reportedly connived with some Professors to dupe the nation billions of Naira.

Early this week, a building contractor narrated how his Vice Chancellor friend lamented to him how Nyesom Wike, as Minister for Education, asked him [the VC] to increase his budget from N3b to N4b and give him [Minister Wike] the added N1b. The VC confessed that he had to obey to avoid being victimised by the then Minister who was his boss.

With this myriad of revelations coming to light now, Governor Nyesom Wike knows that the political noose is slowly but gradually tightening round his neck and will surely snap tight should he lose his case before the Supreme Court.

Unfortunately, the ‘insecure governor’ believes that the best thing for him to do at this point is to “splatter sewage in all possible and improbable directions,” [apologies to Prof. Soyinka who is also the obvious improbable victim of Wike’s wild accusations].

The APC wishes to advise Gov. Nyesom Wike to be a man and take responsibility for his actions without taking down innocent people along his lonely road of political oblivion.
