Enugu Government intensifies action on road construction to ease movement during yuletide

Enugu State Executive Council has approved over one hundred and sixmillion naira for execution of various developmental projects in the state.

In a press briefing at the end of the council's meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the State Commissioner for Information,Dr. Godwin Udeuhele, pointed said that out of this amount that the sum of thirty million naira (N30,000,000) has been earmarked for the reconstruction of the new market roundabout - Onitsha Expressway and Agu Abor road which is a gateway to the state.

Dr. Udeuhele added that when the road is completed that it would helpbeef up the perception of people coming or going from Enugu,especially this period of yuletide and avert the impending roadmishaps that may be caused by the single lane that is in use now.

The commissioner added that reconstruction of the road will put an endthe activities of mechanics and welders who have turned the gatewayinto their workshops.

Dr. Udeuhele noted that the council equally approved therehabilitation of Nawfia Street in Independence Layout at a contractsum of twenty-five million naira (N25,000,000) to ameliorate thesuffering of the inhabitants of that area.

The commissioner who briefed the press along with the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Patrick Ikpenwa informed the press thatthe council also approved the completion of concrete and block worksand permanent fencing of the premises of Enugu State Medical Diagnostic Centre at a total contract sum of Fifty-one thousand, three hundred and fifty-five thousand, five hundred and six naira(N51,355,506.00) to Arab Contractors.

According to the commissioner, the council approved the draft of the2016 budget presentation to the State House of Assembly by GovernorIfeanyi Ugwuanyi.

He also noted that council finally approved a draft bill for a law toamend the State Citizens Right and Mediation Centre Law Cap 45 revisedlaws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004 and directed that the draft billbe forwarded to the State House of Assembly.
