Crescent VC Gets Award, Laments 10 Million Nigerian Youth Out Of School

Vice chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila has been honoured as an icon of educational advancements.

He was honoured by Youth for Better Nigeria on university campus in recognition of his sterling contributions to education in Nigeria.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Gbajabiamila lamented ten million Nigerian children out of school, urging the government and private sectors to salvage the situation.

Lamenting that the number had not improved since 1975, Prof. Gbajabiamila stressed that Nigeria still had more children out of school than neighbouring Tanzania, Gambia, Ghana.

He observed that the only African country that has spent the 25% of its GDP on education as recommended by UNESCO was Ghana.
