Setting The Record Straight

By James Eze

My attention has been drawn to the unbelievable rumours and wild allegations, claiming that I was physically attacked by the wife of the governor of Anambra State, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano.

I wish to dissociate myself from the efforts of the shadowy characters behind this campaign, who hide under the thick anonymity of the Social Media to destroy the hard-earned reputation of prominent citizens whose only fault is that they are in public office.

The cruel gossip alleging that I was physically assaulted by Chief Mrs Obiano (Osodieme) is one of the unkind attempts to cast doubts on the character of an innocent woman whose passionate commitment to bringing succour to the less privileged members of the society has been widely acclaimed as exemplary.

I wish to boldly clarify that as the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Anambra State, my schedule of duty is clear and distinct with minimal interface with the office of the wife of the governor. On the rare occasions where there have been overlaps, the collaborations were smooth and cordial without the slightest hitches.

I am therefore, extremely baffled to read all the incredulous lies and gossip alleging that I was physically attacked by the wife of the governor. I urge the general public to disregard those lies as they were intended to malign Osodieme and mislead the people.

Thank you
Dr. Victoria Chikwelu
Hon. Commissioner for Women Affair
Anambra State
