Chief Of Army Staff Survives Assassination In Kaduna

SAN FRANCISCO, December 12, (THEWILL) – A Shiite Muslim group Saturday attempted to assassinate the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai when his convoy was attacked in Zaria, Kaduna State, the Nigerian Army said in a tweet.

THEWILL gathered that at least seven persons were killed during the clash between soldiers and members of the radical sect.

Co-incidentally, President Muhammadu Buhari, a resident of Kaduna before he became President, was in the state for the Kaduna Music Festival where was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate degree by the Kaduna State University during its convocation ceremony. Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote was also at the event.
