Governor Jibrilla Is Running A Government Against Women Folks—Women Activist

An international women activist, Aishatu Nana Abubakar yesterday berates Gov Muhammadu Jibrilla of Adamawa on Tuesday over the appointment of 49 Development area administrators.

Speaking to our correspondent on a telephone call in Yola, Nana recalled previous appointments given by Jibrilla not to have been favoring the women folks in the state, as such she considered the Governor to be insensitive to the pleads of women in the state who gave him an overwhelming protest votes.

"You can recall that the Governor Jibrilla appointed over twenty commissioners only four are women, he appointed only men to be his on Senior advisers and lastly on his recent appointment he gave 49 Areas Development Administrators to only men". Nana said

" I don't think is a good omen to his administration and is a serious pointer to women generally in the country who have been side lined along gender basis and these are people they used during their campaigns to win". She added

Though at the swearing in ceremony, Jibrilla apologized to women folks for being under represented in his administration.

Jibrilla regretted the fact that only a single woman, Ms Esther Pius, made the list of the 49 newly appointed administrators, saying he will compensate the women in future political appointments.

" This is just the first major appointment made by this administration, I want to assure the women that they will be considered in future appointments", Jibrilla said.

He however charged the appointees on selfless service to the people, saying they were selected on merit.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State House of Assembly, has approved N21billion supplementary budget for the year 2015.

The Deputy speaker of the House, Sunday Peter who presided over the plenary sitting explained the approval is geared toward bringing succor to the electorate.
