A few months ago, the media was agog that star actress, Stephanie Okereke, was in New York, the United States, trying to grab a top modelling deal. Stephanie later joined other Nigerian artistes in the United States during the Award and Interactive Tour organised by the Don Pedro Obaseki-led Film Cooperative of Nigeria (FGON).

While others returned home; Stephanie stayed back and returned only a couple of months back. Showbiz People however gathered that the Stephanie was in Gods own country not for any modelling job, but at the instance of her lover, a former Super Eagles player.


According to sources, Stephanie and the footballer have performed all the necessary traditional rites of their marriage, but have postponed the Igbankwu and white wedding for the later part of the year.


The beautiful actress and her beau, we gathered, met in Enugu, the headquarters of the Igbo home movie industry and fell in love at first sight. The guy, an Enugu indigene, has been introducing Stephanie to his friends and family members as "my wife". Ever since both families gave their consent to the union, the love- birds have been together, while the footballer has been lavishing cash and gifts on Stephanie. Presently, the lovebirds are in Los Angeles, USA,on a trip which insiders say is both an holiday and shopping for their impending wedding. Before they landed in the United States, they also spent some time in England where they reportedly took their time to shop. The actress has been telling very close friends that it is either the footballer or nobody else. Although they have eluded the prying eyes of the media, Stephanie has been sighted several times inside the handsome footballer's Mercedes Benz C- Class, as she is not hiding the fact that they are in love. Stephanie came into prominence when she starred in Teco Benson's movie in 200I. The University of Calabar graduate soon caught the attention of the industry and has risen to the rank of the Best Five Actresses popularly called the 'G5', a group that include Genevieve Nnaji, Stella Damasus-Aboderin, Omotola-Jalade -Ekeinde and Rita Demonic. Before her foray into the home video industry, Stephanie hit the limelight when she emerged as the Second Runner- Up in the Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria Pageant in 2001.
