Police Recover 26 Children From Traffickers In Ogun

SAN FRANCISCO, November 30, (THEWILL) – Operatives of Nigeria Police, Ogun State command, on Monday recovered 26 children from three suspected human traffickers at Ibafo in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, being trafficked to Lagos State.

The alleged traffickers were paraded at the state police command, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The 26 teenagers, aged between eight and ten years, were reportedly trafficked from Jos, Plateau State and Kano State to do menial jobs in Lagos, before they were recovered at a motor park at Ibafo. The alleged traffickers are Zainab Ahmad, 18; Aisha Abdullahi, 55, and Zuliat Abdulmalik, 45.

Speaking during the parade at Eleweran in Abeokuta on Monday, Abdulmajid Ali, Ogun State police commissioner, said, “based on our usual stakeholders meeting and proactive measures put in place by the Nigeria Police, our attention was called on Sunday that some groups of under-aged children were seen at a motor park at Ibafo area.”

He said the force would remain proactive in halting crime especially during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
