BEVERLY HILLS, November 30, (THEWILL) – The national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), presenting Mr. Yahaya Bello as governorship candidate for the December 5, 2015 supplementary governorship election in Kogi State, following the death of Prince Abubakar Audu, its former candidate.

Mr Nick Dazang, INEC Deputy Director, Publicity, disclosed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

Dazang, however, did not disclose when the commission received the request.

“They have sent the name of their replacement candidate, the second runner-up in their primaries, that is Yahaya Bello, to the commission,'' Dazang said.

The sudden death of Audu and the bid to replace him had caused friction amongst interests in the party with Audu's running mate, Mr. James Abiodun Faleke, presenting himself on Monday as the lawful substitute for Audu and nominating the deceased's son, Mohammed as running mate.

THEWILL can report that party has put an end to the drama with the formal presentation of Bello to INEC. Faleke would remain the party's deputy governorship candidate for the poll.

Meanwhile, supporters of both Bello and Faleke clashed Monday at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
