Gov. Okowa Ignores Flood Victims, Host Urhobo Pdp Members And Students As He Mobilizes In Anticipation Of A Rerun Election In Delta State

Twenty two days after massive flood rendered homeless some residents of Aribogha Street and environs at Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, the State caretaker governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa kept deaf ears to the plight and sufferings of over 1,000 people comprising adults, babies and children.

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta said in a statement by Director of Meida, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe said that the flood victims were sacked from their homes after a heavy down pour of rain but the self acclaimed prosperity governor is at the moment busy mobilizing PDP members across the state for perceived rerun election and as such do not have spare time to attend to other critical issues affecting Deltans.

The affected victims sent Save Our Souls (SOS) message to governor Okowa on September 14 and responded days later by sending his deputy, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro who visited the scene of flood but for reasons best known to him bluntly refused to inspect the affected homes and the burrow-pit which is still overflowing with more houses near collapse in the area.

On Monday, the governor received Delta central members of the PDP who paid him a courtesy call in his office. The delegation was led by PDP Senator at the National Assembly, Chief Ighoyota Amori and the state speaker, Chief Monday Igbuya. Reports have it that the gathering at the governor's office was purely a PDP affair.

We have it on good account that key PDP members from Delta Central on the invitation of the governor held closed door meeting with Okowa for several hours to work out modalities on how to mobilize the youth, women and students across the state for a possible rerun election haven failed to make headway at the tribunal due to highly complicated nature of testimony of witnesses.

To deceive the good people of Delta Central, government social media unit posted misleading comments that Urhobo leaders in Delta Central paid a solidarity visit on the governor to drum up support for his administration. The sole idea is to deceive Deltans so as to fraudulently secure credibility for the PDP government which was constituted through fraudulent election victory.

The affected flood victims in Effurun are in pain and agony, homeless, frustrated and in acute hunger. A responsible and responsive government will not abandon its citizens at such a trying moments of their lives.

The poor attitude of the state governor towards the sufferings of the affected flood victims is a contradiction to his so-called prosperity mantra that he is trying to sell to Deltans without success. The prosperity slogan has been rejected by the good people of Delta State and the governor is highly disappointed.

APC Delta State has forwarded SOS to President Buhari to urgently come to the aid of the affected flood victims since the State government failed in its duties to bring hope and succor to them within a reasonable time.

It is obvious that the Okowa administration does not mean well for the vast majority of Deltans, at best, it will as usual care for the material and financial desires of a few loyal PDP members to the detriment of the majority of Deltans.

APC Delta hereby urge Deltans to bear the pains of the insensitive and I don't care attitude of the governor for a little while as Olorogun Otega Emerhor and the party are doing the needful to recover their stolen mandate from the election rigging cabal who mismanaged the financial resources of the state for over 16 years.
