The overwhelming majority of citizens of the country deserve and demand an end to conflict and division between communities for the country's prospects for peace and recovery.

Ahead of elections to take place by the end of the year, the EU rejects any attempt to deter ongoing efforts towards stability. The EU reaffirms its support to the UN, to the MINUSCA peacekeeping mission and the French SANGARIS military contingent.

All parties should abide by the disarmament agreement signed on 10 May. Determination is now required by all the authorities of the transition, to build peace and reconciliation so that successful elections can take place.

The EU remains fully committed, together with our partners, to assist the people of the Central African Republic.
