REQUEST TO SUSPEND AND DISQUALIFY MR. TIMIPRE SYLVA FROM PARTICIPATING IN FURTHER APC PRIMARIES

We write to your highly esteemed office to disqualify Mr. Timipe Sylva from contesting any further APC Primaries in the Party, as that would erode the high ideals and the internal democracy our great Party is trying to entrench. We wish to register our gratitude for your timely cancellation of the charade that was the APC Primaries held at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex – Yenagoa.

Governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State started on a stormy note this morning with protest by supporters of governorship aspirant, Ndutimi Alaibe, who were denied access to the venue of the event. Alaibe was also not allowed to enter the venue. He was seen at the gate with his supporters, creating a riotous scene.

It was a busy day for security personnel at the venue of the primary exercise as Alaibe’s supporters were seen engaging security men in arguments over the propriety of their action. Many of the supporters were milling outside the gate shouting and making attempts to force their way into the venue but were disallowed.

Investigation revealed that Alaibe and his supporters were denied access because of the stunning allegation that they were not accredited delegates, a situation which led to hot exchanges and insinuations that the Timipre Sylva’ camp was behind their travails in a bid to manipulate the election. With this development, there were indications that allowing Timipre Sylva and his horde of thugs to contest any APC Primary will be counterproductive and smear the image of the Party. What we saw that day was a show of shame and the only way to remove that shame is to disqualify Sylva from contesting any further election.

Hear some the aspirants “We will certainly reject the outcome of the primary if the situation does not change here today because this arrangement is skewed in favour of a particular aspirant”, one of the supporters stated. The APC guber Primaries in Bayelsa State is now a war between two cult groups: Timipre Sylva’s Viking Confraternity, who used weapons and fought the Police with impunity, wounding so many people.

Even Governor Adams Oshiomhole was held hostage for more than three hours and we feel Timipre Sylva has disgraced the Party and made us a laughing stock. Our submission therefore is the suspension of Timipre Sylva from the Party and disqualify him from contesting any further Party primaries.
