By Rotimi Olawale

Following the death of the matriarch and wife of the first premier of Old Western Region, Chief Mrs Hannah Idowu Awolowo, who passed on at the age of 99, after a brief meeting with family members, Rt. Hon. Razak Atunwa representing Asa/Ilorin West at the Federal House of Representatives has joined Nigerians in commiserating with the Awolowo dynasty.

In a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Olawale Rotimi, Rt. Hon. Razak Atunwa described Chief Mrs HID Awolowo's life as that which is admirable and worthy of celebration. He said the Awolowo dynasty and its contributions are intrinsically tinged to the history of Nigeria, playing crucial roles prior and after the independence of Nigeria, in fostering peace, unity and progress in the nation.

Further eulogizing the matriarch who passed on less than three months to her centenary birthday,

Mama Awolowo sustained the legacies of Late Obafemi Awolowo, by positioning herself as a source of wisdom for political leaders and reformers in various spheres of affairs in Nigeria, Atunwa stated.

Commiserating with the Awolowo dynasty, Yoruba race and Nigerians as a whole, Atunwa charged Nigerians to uphold the legacies of the duo- Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Late Hannah Awolowo in sailing Nigeria to the desired destination. He also sympathized with the Governor of Ogun state, Mr. Ibikunle Amosun and prayed that the families are comforted by God.
