Kogi: Wada Wins PDP Governorship Ticket

SAN FRANCISCO, September 14, (THEWILL) – Incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Idris Wada has won the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, defeating his main challenger, Alhaji Jibrin Isa Echocho, who conceded victory immediately its was clear he had lost the primary which held at the Lokoja Township Stadium on Monday.

Isa threw in the towel when results from 16 out of 21 local governments had been announced with Wada polling 432 votes against his 55 votes. He congratulated the Wada and hugged him before departing the venue.

He told journalists that he would work with the PDP candidate to ensure victory for the party at the November poll.

“Wada can win in November. I will work with him to ensure victory for the party. I remain in the PDP,” he said.

The governorship election in Kogi is scheduled for Saturday, November 21.

Wada faces an uphill task against his main challenger, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Abubakar Audu, a former two-term governor of the state.
