Igede-Ekiti Youths Hail Olofin Over Readiness To Assist BSES

By Lere Olayinka

Youths in Igede-Ekiti, the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Headquarters in Ekiti State, have hailed the giant stride made and expressed gratitude to Mr David Olofin, who had promised to supply the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, BSES, with 1.15 Megawatts (MW) Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) Farm to power the station for the next twenty (20) years free of charge.

The arrangement was sealed on Thursday with Ekiti State government, as

the UK based Elemi Energy Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding

(MoU) with the government.
Mr David Olofin who ventilated his readiness to work with the state

government, also promised the delivery of the power project within the

next nine months.
Youths under the platform of Igede-Ekiti Emancipation Team, therefore

saluted the courage of the Igede-born and UK-based energy business

tycoon; and thanked him and his team for proclaiming the Elemi

identity and making the town and her ancestral lineage relevant across

the globe.
The group, in its message to the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Elemi

Energy Limited, Mr David Olofin, described him as a true-blue

patriotic son of the soil.
The leader of the team, Comrade Fatunla Oyebanji Stephen and its five

other prominent stakeholders, Com. Adebomojo Akeem, Com. Ajayi

Oluwabusuyi, Com. Igbalajobi Sola, Amb. Aladesuru Oluwaseun and Amb.

Oke Adekunle, in a phone chat beseeched Mr Olofin to continue doing

what he believes in; that, he had exemplified the congenital traits of

service to humanity which his ageing father, Pa D.O Olofin is known

for.
"Actually we are not surprised seeing this happening at this point in

time. We have long ago seen it coming from Igede-Ekiti to Ekiti State

- the 'power bail out,' so we're happy.

"We therefore want to officially associate ourselves with this

landslide development coming to Ekiti State. It is unprecedented and

we congratulate our dear brother for making it a reality," the group

said.
In the same vein, the group urged Mr. Olofin not to forget the plans

he has for Igede-Ekiti, his country home.
They later gave credence to the leadership of Governor Ayodele Fayose,

for believing and seeing actualization in the project which they

described as laudable and achievable.
The active role played by the Ekiti State Commissioner for

Information, Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Ogunsuyi Olarewaju,

in facilitating the signing of the MoU with the private company was

appreciated.
Mr Lere Olayinka, the Ag Director General and Special Assistant to the

Ekiti State Governor on Public Communications and New Media was

equally applauded for welcoming the initiative at birth.

"Mr Lere Olayinka has proved beyond reasonable doubt to be a round peg

in a round hole with his responsive disposition to this initiative.

The reason being that, thousands of such brilliant initiatives would

have been discarded by any selfish individual who seeks 'brown

envelope' before giving attention," the group said.

A piece of advice was later given to other prominent sons and

daughters of Ekiti in diaspora who has one or two
initiatives/potentials that could benefit the state, not to hesitate

coming home to showcase these.
The group expressed optimism in Fayose led administration and

admonished anybody with laudable ideas to come; adding that, the

governor's door is widely open to whoever is ready to assist his

administration in the development of the state as a whole.
