Federal Cabinet: DSS Screens Utomi, Odimegwu, Falana, Oyinlola, Omoigui-Okaru

SAN FRANCISCO, September 13, (THEWILL) – The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly screened a former Presidential candidate and Economist, Professor Patrick Utomi, an ex-Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Limited, Mr. Festus Odimegwu, a former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Lawyer and activist, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), ex-boss of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru, as well as a former Chief of Army, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.) for appointment as Ministers.

Others on the list according to a news report by The Punch, which quoted multiple sources with knowledge of the development, include a former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun; and a former National Legal Adviser to the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

President Buhari, who assumed office in May, had promised to name his cabinet before the end of September.

The news report said the DSS has completed background checks on all nominees and is ready to forward its report to the president.

The constitution prescribes that the President must appoint at least one Minister from each state of the federation.
