The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Mr Fyneman Wilson, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

He was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday, barely 24 hours after Governor Dickson publicly declared his intention to seek re-election during an elaborate ceremony in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Wilson was kidnapped at about 4am in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa, where incumbent governor also hails from.

Asinim Butswat, Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa Command, confirmed receiving the report of the kidnap incident but said that details were still 'sketchy'. He pledged to provide details as soon as they are available.
