SAN FRANCISCO, September 07, (THEWILL) – Former presidential adviser on Niger Delta and coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, has alleged that there were moves to implicate him in an alleged financial deal which, according to him, he knew nothing of.

He described the allegation contained in ‎a newspaper report that his account was one of those accounts that were frozen as untrue and politically motivated.

A national newspaper Sunday reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had frozen an account belonging to Keketobou Foundation, established by former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs and Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, alongside other accounts belonging to those who served under the former President.

But Kuku said in a statement that the Foundation has only N720,484 as balance today, adding that “the proceeds of my published and launched book “Remaking The Niger Delta: Challenges and Opportunities” were donated for charity purposes as a public officer.”

According to Kuku,”I distributed JAMB forms to applicants, gave financial and material support to the aged, widows and physically challenged and helped in the rehabilitation of walkways and drainages in my hometown, Arogbo, Ondo State.

“These gestures were borne out of my determined spirit to give back to my final place of return in life.”

He however frowned at the publication, saying it was politically motivated to smear his hard-earned reputation.

“What on earth links my face to the alleged story about NIMASA? It is still all part of the anti-Jonathan onslaught .I am open to investigation as a public officer but ongoing activities of the ‘goebellic’ distortion by the anti-graft agencies and some section of media creates in the heart of it all suspicion of witch-hunt and bad politics.

“I hope no desperate elements would deposit illicit funds into the foundation’s account to implicate me because the full details of the account from opening to date is with us,” he warned.

“Again, what links this foundation to their so-called alleged seized billions and phathom security claims? I sincerely smell a rat.”

Kuku, however, explained that the account in question was not his but a foundation account.
