Political marginalisation: Take your case to God, only Him can save you, Christian group tells Ndigbo

Ndigbo should take to prayer to fight the alleged injustice and deliberate policy of political marginalisation, a Christian group known as the Apostolic Coalition of Prophetic Elders (ACPE) has advised.

There have been a national outcry over the total exclusion of the South East in the close to 40 political appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It was speculated in the early days of the administration that it had set aside the position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for the South East in order to carry them along in the administration where they have no key representative.

ACPE  gave the advice on Wednesday  after  an eight-day international prayer conference held in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

According to the Christian group,  what was happening in the country is an abnormal situation.

There is the need for abnormal prayers to be employed for God to intervene immediately, it said.

The seven-point communiqué issued at the end of the conference which was signed by Very Rev E.S. I. Chukwu, George Enekwechi, Uche Umerie and Rev Canon Chuma Ugochukwu read thus: “All government establishments must avoid eye-service, hypocrisy, nepotism, tribalism and all manner of evil disposition.

“To this end, the conference urges President Muhammadu Buhari, the governors and all those who are in authority to ensure that all Nigerians are treated equally even while not sparing those that looted the nation's treasury irrespective of their party, tribe or religion.

“There is also the need for abnormal prayers in our present abnormal situations where insurgency of different descriptions, including kidnapping, political violence, armed robbery, rape, ritual murder and sacrifices, corruption in the public sector and same sex marriage, are prevailing.

“We pray that God will lead all those in authority so that they will lead the nation with the fear of God for the people to rejoice.”
