Osinbajo Leaves For Abidjan For Adesina's Inauguration As AfDB President

SAN FRANCISCO, August 31, (THEWILL) – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will depart Abuja, Monday evening, to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the swearing-in ceremony of Nigeria’s immediate past Agriculture Minister, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, as President of the African Development Bank, AfDB.

The inauguration, according to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, takes place on Tuesday, September 1 in Abidjan, the capital of Cote D’Ivoire.

President Buhari actively supported the candidature of the AfDB president-elect in a keenly contested election conducted in May this year even before Buhari assumed duties as president of Nigeria.

The Vice President, according to the statement, will speak at the event and return to Abuja later on Tuesday.
