Izunaso’s Media Aide Faults Publication

By Dike Philip

The media aide to the National Organizing Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mazi Ike Njoku has faulted internet and media publication credited to one Okechukwu Eze with the caption “Imo West Senatorial Poll: The futility of desperation”.

In a statement made available to newsmen and signed by the Senator’s media aide he opined that the distinguished Senator Izunaso can never be as desperate as Senator Hope Uzodinma, as alleged by the author in his publication judging from the antecedents of the two during the March 28 National Assembly polls.

“I wish to use this medium to remind Mr. Eze that during the National Assembly polls, both the National and local tabloids in the state were agog with headline captions on the purported illegality orchestrated by Senator Hope Uzodinma, all in a bid to win election”.

If actually he is popular and wanted back by the people of Orlu Senatorial Zone, as alleged by the author in his publication, why would he go extreme miles in perpetrating illegality, all in a bid to win election.

In case you have forgotten, some newspaper headline captions against Senator Hope Uzodinma reads as follows: “Guber supplementary fall out: Uzodinma under House arrest, sister, aides, INEC officials arrested”, “Imo rerun: Senator Hope Uzodinma, Sister, others arrested over electoral offences”, “TC Chairman wants Uzodinma prosecuted over electoral fraud”, “Police apprehend Senator Hope Uzodinma and sister over thumb-printed ballot papers”, “PDP Senator Uzodinma, INEC Officials arrested for thumb-printing”.

The Nation newspaper in her report of April 26, 2015, page 4 wrote: “A serving Senator of PDP, Mr. Hope Uzodinma was arrested by police in connection with illegal thumb-printing of ballot papers in a private house in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State as the election got underway. Arrested with him were his uncle, elder sister, and fake INEC officials”.

If I may ask, if these newspaper publications were slanderous and meant to defame the character of a distinguished Senator like Hope Uzodinma, he could have fought the matter and seen to its final conclusion, but rather, he chose to be adamant and allow sleeping dog to lie.

Desperation according to the concise English Dictionary is having a great need or desire for something.

If Senator Izunaso was too desperate like his closest rival, wouldn’t he have stooped too low to thumb-print ballot papers as Uzodinma was allegedly reported to have done?

Senator’s Osita Izunaso and Hope Uzodinma were formally in the same party, PDP, and know all the intrigues and nitty-gritty’s of election, yet Izunaso went ahead canvassing for the peoples vote in 12 Local Government Areas of Orlu Zone, which he won.

It is laughable to say that Senator Izunaso is desperate when he cannot be equated to his closest rival in all ramifications including political appointments, educational qualifications, contributions at both the party and National Assembly.
