My Eyeballs Attracts Producers …Segun Arinze

Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze, rarely makes the news and when he does, he definitely has some things to say about the industry which has made him for about 35 years now and still counting.

The actor, whom many see as a bad guy due to his various roles interpretation, has disclosed that he is not bad the way people see him on set as he describes their thought as misconception.

Segun stated that the producers coming after him with scripts have their various reasons for coming but pointed that his eyes stands him out.

He explained that when he opens his eyes wide, it has this scary looks and one is bound to be afraid but noted that he is not a stuck character as he can play other roles too.

In his words, “Hmmm…first, it has to do with my eyes. I think that when I open them wide enough, it's got this mean, menacing look when I am playing these roles. But I am not a stuck character. I have always said that Nigerian movie producers and directors always want to feature one in a particular character when they see that you are good at it. Like, they go for Justice Esiri, Olu Jacobs or Pete Edochie, if they are looking for a person to play a chief.”

“Lover-boy roles, they go for Richard Mofe Damijo, Ramsey Nouah, Bob-Manuel, et cetera. An actor needs to break out sometimes and say, 'I don't want to do this, I am an actor!' Granted, there are some roles you may not be suited for, but you can try it. For me, it's totally unacceptable to be stuck in one role. I am a trained actor and I can fit in anywhere,” he told Thisday.
