The Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Bro Felix Obuah, has assured youths of the State of priority attention and commitment in tackling unemployment, youth restiveness and other social vices.

Bro Obuah who gave the assurance when he played host to the State Employment and Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) Project in his office in Port Harcourt, led by the State Coordinator, Kelcious Amos, said the Agency and the PDP led government in the State would create access to meaningful employment opportunities, carryout quality skill acquisition and development programs, and other youth empowerment schemes aimed at preventing youth indulgence in violence and social vices.

The Sole Administrator of RIWAMA also promised to partner with the State Project Coordinating Unit (SPCU) under the supervision of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning; a World Bank assisted SEEFOR Project, to generate short and long term employment and empowerment for youths in the State through public works and waste management.

According to him, “the Governor of the State, Barr Nyesom Wike, has put in place sustainable plans for the people and youths of the State, and is also doing his best to put smiles on their faces.

“We should be thankful to Governor Wike, who has in about three months in office cleared backlogs of four months salaries of civil servants and pensioners owed them by the former Governor of the State, Rotimi Amaechi”.

He further explained that Governor Wike has also brought back the South African Embassy to Port Harcourt which now makes it easy for people of the State to apply for and secure the South African Visa without much stress, time and resources, commending the Governor for successfully hosting an international football march and for putting on ground necessary facilities for the hosting of the forthcoming international football competition in Port Harcourt.

Obuah announced that the Rivers State Waste Management Agency has designed a well packaged way of handling waste in Port Harcourt, the State Capital and its environs.

To this end, Obuah further revealed that the Agency has commenced partnership with all the Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen to engage youths in grass cutting, cleaning of gutters and water channels and active participation in monthly environmental sanitation exercise in their areas.

Speaking earlier, the Project Coordinator of SEEFOR, Kelcious Amos, congratulated Bro Felix Obuah on his well deserved appointment as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency and enlisted his support and corporation in engaging youths in the State to benefit from the project.
