National Assembly Must Do Things Right!

We wish to draw the attention of the National Assembly to the way and manner President Muhammadu Buhari is running Nigerian Government as a sole Administrator and urge the low and upper chambers of the National Assembly to prevail on President Buhari to observe the Principles of Federal Character and Due Process.

Buhari approved several Billions of Naira to States as bail-out to enable them pay arrears of salaries owed civil servants.

Though done with good intention, it is alien to the practice of Due Process that one may could single handedly give such approval without the scrutiny of the National Assembly.

Based on the culture of Buhari in undermining Due Process and Federal Character, he has been making several appointment to Federal Offices in similar manner.

Majority of those he appointed are from the North, a particular section of the country at the detriment of other parts of Nigeria.

We remember that in recent past when former president Goodluck Jonathan was at the helm of affairs such appointments were normally made to pass through the National Assembly.

It is therefore in the spirit of National Interest that we urge members of the National Assembly to halt this Dictatorial practice. This step, we behave will call the president to order and make him realise that he is not a military Head of State but an elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
