Wike: Our Born Again Governor And The Burden Of Justice For 97 Political Murders

By Solomon Okocha

We have observed with delight, the new found zeal being demonstrated towards God by Governor Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, especially his increasing pilgrimages to churches and men of God. We also congratulate him on his policy of using state funds to support crusades and build churches.

With the celestial images of a pious governor who would never hesitate to kneel before Pastors to receive prayers as he seeks to improve his relationship with his Maker which now inundates the traditional and new media, we can now dare to believe our born again governor shall champion the course of finding justice for the over 97 Rivers men, women and children who were murdered in cold blood as a result of their political beliefs in the last general elections.

We therefore urge our revered clergy especially those that have joined the ever increasing retinue of Wike's spiritual fathers to take the bold step of encouraging governor Wike to ensure that every individual (no matter his/her social status or political affiliation) who in desperation of acquiring political power snuffed life out of any of God's creatures, be brought before the law.

We particularly wish to remind our loving Spiritual Heads that the widow of Chief Christopher Adube, the APC leader from Obirikom in Omoku who was savagely butchered alongside six members of his family as a result of their political opinions, and in fact every other person who has lost a loved one may not share in the joy of the magnanimity of the governor of Rivers state towards the church, if those who are believed to have caused them pain are allowed to move freely and even enjoy with their families the benefits of their heinous crimes.

Finally, we wish to express our confidence in the capacity of our 'government favoured spiritual shepherds' to lead Governor Wike in the light of 1 Corinthians 13, so that his many good works towards the Church will be acceptable before our ever loving heavenly Father who has taught us in the scriptures to value life and defend the oppressed .
