We shall defeat Boko Haram very soon ...NSA

The National Security Adviser (NSA) Major General Babagana Monguno( Rtd) has assured Nigerians that with the calibre of Service Chiefs who were recently confirmed by the Senate of the Federal Republic, there is no doubt that the war against the insurgents will soon become history.

Gen. Monguno who led a delegation of the Service Chiefs on a coutesy visit to Govrrnor Kashim Shettima at the Government House in Maifuguri on Friday also reiteratef the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to end the boko haram insurgency is not in doubt.

Speaking on the quality of the Service Chiefs, the NSA said, "these officers sitting before you are the best you can get. They will not be found wanting and they have assured me of their commitment to succeed".

He said the military will embark on a rapid campaign against the insurgents immediately so as to limit and completely eliminate the hardships of the innocent citizens within the affected areas .

General Monguno also praised Governor Kashim Shettima for demonstrating his commitment to end insurgency and urged him to lead the wider segment of society to cooperate with the military so as to end this menace within the three months period given them by the President or sooner.

He reiterated that war against isurgency in the 21st century cannot be won by the military alone but by the joint efforts of the larger segment of society and the military.

In his response, Governor Kashim Shettima said that the North Esst cannot ask for more because by the appoitments of the new service chiefs the President has shown his desire and commitment at ending boko haram insurgency.

He said the immediate task ahead of the region after the war on boko haram has ended will be to invest massively in education and job creation which have greatly contributef in festering the insurgency in the first place.

He observef that the Northern part of the country has been dragging the country down gor a long time but they have to jow put on their thinking caps and act now to correct the situation.

The NSA was accompanied on the visit by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Chief of The Air Staff Air Marshall Abubakar Sadiq and The IGP Sunday Arase.
