The Association of Northern Bakers of Nigeria on Wednesday held its General Meeting at the Abdulsalam Youth Centre, Minna. The meeting according to the Chairman was called upon to discuss the plight of Baking in the North as well as way forward.

Speaking during the meeting, the Association’s Chairman, Alhaji Tahir Adamu Bashir, said the meeting is of great importance, and it will serve as a major means to unify Northern Bakers towards the upcoming National Election “It is time for a Northerner to occupy the seat of the President of this great Association” he noted.

Tahir, further stated that “We are here in Niger State to discuss issues that affects Baking in Northern Nigeria and also to select and present a credible candidate to vie for the President of Master Bakers in Nigeria. This time around, it is the President or nothing” he stated.

The Chairman then urged the Northern Master Bakers to see themselves as Northerners devoid of religion, tribe and ethnic differences “We should see ourselves as Northerners not minding which part of the North each and every one of us came from. What is very important is Unity and Cooperation to succeed as a team”. he said.

Alhaji Tahir used the medium to call on Government to aide Baking Business in Nigeria by intervening and subsidizing Baking Materials “People actually have this misconception that Baking Business is for illiterate which is not true. Today, we have Graduates, Phd Holders etc in the Baking Industry, that is why it is very important for the Government to come into the industry, even for nothing, Baking Business is one of the major employer of labour” he noted.
