Lagos, Nigeria; July 29, 2015: It was a happy ending for the three Ghanaian players that featured in the just concluded first edition of Tech+ Gaming Contest after they won various cash rewards in the FIFA and Mortal Combat categories.

The trio of Selasie Brown, Danso Reginald Omarion and Richmong Boampong defeated over 1000 other contestants to cart home the cash prizes in the mortal combat category as well as the deserved third-place prize in the FIFA Tournament held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos between July 24 and 25, 2015.

While Selasie Brown who led the team to Nigeria won the third-place prize of N100, 000.00 in the FIFA Tournament, the same could not be said of Danso Reginald Omarion and Richmond Boampong as they both failed to make the last four. The first and second prizes of N500, 000.00 and N300, 000.00 went to the Nigerian duo of Adedeji Opoola and Adeyinka Aregbesola respectively.

The mortal combat contest however, was all about them as they edged out all other contestants to take the available prizes. It was a straight fight between Danso and Richmond as they both battled for the top prize to the delight of the hundreds of spectators who took time to applaud anytime one gains a point advantage. Danso eventually emerged the better of the two with a cash prize of N300, 000.00 while Richmond settled for N200, 000.00 with Selasie completing their dominance with a respectable third-place performance that fetched him N100, 000.00.

Speaking about his performance in the competition, Selasie said he rued not taking his chances in the semi-final match against Yinka, but expressed joy that he represented his home country well.

“I think the feeling is great. I still feel I could have done a little bit more because I missed a couple of chances against Yinka, but I mean, it is a game, and sometimes you lose or win. I am glad to have been able to represent my Ghanaian community in Nigeria,” stated the 31 years-old Selasie.

The Gaming Contest was one of the cardinal features of the TECH+ conference and exhibitions powered by MTN Nigeria with sponsorship from Huawei, Jumia, Coscharis Motors, Samsung, Google, Uber and Terragon Group.
