By The Rainbow

The Army through a statement by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman,  in Abuja on Sunday,  said the  was only reviewing some recent disciplinary cases and was yet to arrive at any decision to recall any soldier.

According to Usman, “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a correspondence making the rounds in some media regarding an administrative procedure to review some recent disciplinary cases in the Nigerian Army.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it should be noted that the Nigerian Army is reviewing all recent disciplinary cases due to the wave of litigations and petitions by some aggrieved personnel.''

The Army urged the Nigerian  public discountenance the reports that tended to misconstrue the recent directive to mean total recall of dismissed and deserter soldiers.

Recent reports indicated that the Nigerian army was to review cases of detained and the ones dismissed over insubordination and other misconduct.

Some persons have expressed concerns about the move by the military, which if ont handled dispassionately and with care, could set dangerous precedence in the military and encourage insubordination in a force that prides itself a disciplined one.
