Alex Otti Escapes Assassination, Policeman Killed

SAN FRANCISCO, July 24, (THEWILL) – Ten Gunmen suspected to be assassins early Friday morning stormed the Abuja private guesthouse where Mr. Alex Otti, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the last election in Abia state resides, just a few hours after he departed unannounced for Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

Otti's associates told THEWILL that the gunmen were angry when they didn't find the politician after searching the residence. They shot and killed one of the policemen at the guesthouse during the attack.

The gunmen struck at about 2.am.
The popular politician, who many Abians say was robbed of victory at the Governorship election, is at the electoral tribunal challenging the result as announced by INEC.
