Ghana's Baba Rahaman Chelsea top target as Atletico buys back Luis

By The Rainbow

Chelsea bought Filipe Luis last year for around $24 million.

On Monday the English champions sold him back to Atletico Madrid for about $23 million.

In retrospect, the Blues wind up paying a $1 million rental fee for their failed Brazilian experiment — though how failed is it if Chelsea won the league? –and Atletico Madrid gets a proven La Liga commodity back in defense.

The move comes on the same day Mourinho admitted he's hoping to add a defender to the mix for this season's quest to become the first consecutive Premier League title winners since Manchester United won three-straight from 2007-2009.

The 18-times capped Brazil defender played in 26 matches for the Blues after his big switch last season, but made just four starts for Chelsea from February through the end of the campaign.

Cesar Azpilicueta remains at left back for Chelsea, who will surely address this position before August is over. In fact, several outlets including The Independent claim that Mourinho already has his target in sight.

Twenty-one year-old Augsburg left back Baba Rahman is viewed as one of the finest left backs in the Bundesliga, and the outlet says the Ghanaian delayed accepting an offer from Roma until Luis' situation at Chelsea is concluded.
