Lamido, Sons Free On Bail

SAN FRANCISCO, July 14, (THEWILL) – Mr. Sule Lamido, the erstwhile Governor of Jigawa State has been granted bail. A Federal High Court in Abuja Tuesday also approved bail for his sons, Aminu and Mustapha, who were arraigned alongside the politician for allegedly siphoning over N1 billion belonging to the Jigawa State government.

A federal high court in Kano, where they were initially charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had remanded them in prison alongside one Aminu Wada Abubakar, until September when it would determine their application for bail.

However, the Lamidos were Monday transferred to the Kuje prison in Abuja and successfully applied to the Abuja court presided over by vacation judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, who set a bail bond of N25 million for each of the accused persons.
