On 3rd July, 2015 the Ambassador of Cuba to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre bids farewell to the Foundation.

This is what Ambassador Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre said to members of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS)-

Today is my last day in Sierra Leone as Cuba’s Ambassador to the country. Cuba is back in Sierra Leone; I have the strong believe that I am leaving this country at a time when the relationship between the two sister countries is poised to find new areas of mutual interests and cooperation.

Ambassador Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre disclosed that Cuban Doctors will soon arrive in the country to boast Sierra Leone’s health sector. He pointed out again that Cuba will not relent it assistance to Africa and at all time will extend solidarity to the people of Africa.

On the reestablishing of ties between Cuba and the United States, Ambassador Antonio reechoed his country’s position and opined that the road is still long towards normalization of ties between Cuba and US. He maintained that Cuba is no threat to any country, let alone the US and that his country for over fifty years been misrepresented by US failed foreign policy and demonized by the corrupt media.

The good Ambassador said the US will have to sit and discuss with Cuba on equal status and resolved thorny issues including the closure of anti-Cuban terror camps in the US and an end to Western media witch hunt against the Cuban people; an end to US illegal occupation of Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay territory; and above all the total easing of the wicked US embargo on Cuba. These he said will take a long road to accomplish; but he is optimistic that they can be resolved only if the US respect the sovereignty, national independence and territorial integrity of Cuba and the inalienable rights and freedoms of the Cuban people.

Concluding, Ambassador Antonio thanked members of the Foundation for their solidarity with the people of Cuba. Ambassador Antonio enjoined members of the Foundation to strengthen their faith and commitment towards the success of the Foundation. A process he, Ambassador vowed he wants to be party to the success of the Foundation.

On his part, the International Executive Director of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS), Brother Alimamy Bakarr Sankoh thanked the Cuban Ambassador for his active efforts aimed at strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation with Africa.
