San Francisco (THEWILL) – THEWILL can confirm that Mr. David Edevbie, the Principal Secretary to the President has returned to Abuja from Jeddah.

Our Abuja reporter spotted him on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport a few hours ago.

Edevbie had travelled to Saudi Arabia to see the President who has been at the King Faisal hospital for more than a month.

THEWILL has not been able to confirm if Mr. Edevbie actually met with the first lady, Turai or the President during his brief stay in Jeddah.

A presidency source told THEWILL that the President did sign the 2009 supplementary budget but would not comment further when we asked how it happened.

The ailing President according to multiple highly knowledgeable sources is unable to communicate with anyone as a result of a stroke.

In a related development, THEWILL has gathered that the some foreign governments particularly those of the west are uncomfortable with Vice President Goodluck Jonathan assuming powers. A diplomatic source in a conference call from Abuja informed us that the Vice President is seen as “too weak to lead a complex nation like Nigeria” adding that his Niger Delta roots and his perceived relationship with former president Olusegun Obasanjo is a “source of concern for most foreign governments.”

The Nigerian Vice President has not been able to perform executive duties because the President's camp has refused to forward a letter to the leadership of the National Assembly to inform them of the President's hospitalization. Until this is done, the Vice President cannot act as President.
