BORODO ELECTED PRESIDENT OF WEST AFRICAN MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATIONS

The President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Bashir Borodo, has been elected the President, Federation of West African Manufacturers Associations.

He was recently elected at the meeting of the 13 National Manufacturers Associations in the West African region in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire.

A statement on Wednesday said that FEWAMA was initially established in 1987 but became inactive thereafter as a result of various challenges, but had been resuscitated to take its rightful place in the manufacturing sector of the region.

The statement read in part, 'Alhaji Borod's career profile reflects a distinguished career in the manufacturing sector, foreign service and banking. He was elected the seventh President of MAN in 2006. In 2008, he was elected a member of the Permanent General Assembly of the African Union's Economic Social and Cultural Council.

'In 2005, he served as member of the National Political Reforms Conference. He was also a member of the Presidential Consultative Committee on Revitalisation of the Economy. He is currently a member of the Presidential Committee on the Review of Tariff and Fiscal Incentives.
