Frsc To Commence Enforcement Of Speed Tracker

The Federal Road Safety Corps on monday announced that it will commence the enforcement of speed limiters on both local and imported vehicles from 1st of september.

Corps Marshal,FRSC Boboye Oyeyemi who give this assurance at a stakeholders summit in Abuja said the initiative is aimed at reducing cases of road crashes in the country.

He said the corps after the september 1st deadline will commence enforcement on vehicles that are yet to comply.

Meanwhile,the FRSC has attributed over 1,193 road crashes in the country between the month of january to june 2015 to reckless driving involving heavy duty vehicles.

"Over 1,193 road crashes involving over 1000 vehicles between january and june 2015 have been attributed to careless driving by heavy duty vehicles".

The Governor of Lagos State Mr Akinwumi Ambode who represented by the Permanent Secretary Lagos State Ministry of Transport Mr Oluseyi Coker further observed that the cause of accident were deliberate carelessness on drivers,over speeding and lack of knowledge of the road safety commission to put as one of its priorities re-orientation on drivers and enforcement of laws guiding the road.

Secretary to Government of the Federation,Alhaji mohammed Bukai who declared the summit open assured that the Federal Government would continuously partner with Federal road safety commission to create safer environment for transportation system in the country.
