War Against Boko Haram: Nigeria In Excellent Synergy With The Rest Of The World - Kenneth

The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah revealed that there is a strong synergy between countries in the lake Chad Basin Authority and Nigerian Army towards curbing insurgency noting that recently, the Chief of Defense Staff had a meeting with his counterparts across the region which produces an excellent result.

Minimah who made the disclosure during a visit to Yola as part of the process of establishing a military command and control center noted that there is a cordial relationship between Nigerian Army and the rest of the world in fighting insurgency.

"The Chief of Defence Staff had a meeting with his counterparts across the regional bodies that make lake Chad Basin Commission that is ongoing and is going very well," he said.

Minimah promises that with the renewed cooperation between countries that make up the lake Chad Basin Authority good results will be achieved very soon noting that the process has rekindled the hope and expectations of Nigerian citizens.

He added that Nigerian Army will continue to respect the rules of engagement in its operations towards routing the insurgency noting that "we are always operating within the rules of engagement.

"We have our own rules of engagement for operation Zaman Lafiya which every soldier must comply with and from time to time we enforce it to ensure that rules of engagement are executed within the confines of the provision.

"As an army of a nation, we are signatories to certain International Commissions and treaties that tend to uphold the rights of individuals, rights of civilians and rights of women and children in war," he said.
