It was a tragic weekend for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, family in Jigawa State, following the death of Hadejia women leader, Hajia Iyani, and her driver in a fatal auto crash along Guri-Abunabo Road in the state.

The accident occurred as the deceased were on their way to attend the wedding Fatiha of son and daughter of Senator Abdulazeez Usman and former member of the House of Representatives, Adamu Hassan Abunabo, respectively.

Former Speaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly, Ahmed Sarawa, PDP women leader, Hajia Talle, and Jigawa State House of Assembly member representing Kiyawa, Ado Idris Andaza, also sustained injuries in the crash.

They were taken to Rasheed Shekoni Specialists Hospital, Dutse. Eyewitnesses blamed the accident on reckless driving.

The dead were buried in Hadejia Local Government according to Islamic rites, amidst tears from members of their immediate families and PDP supporters.

Jigawa PDP governorship candidate, Malam Aminu Ringim, led the funeral prayers and prayed for the repose of the dead and quick recovery of the ex-Speaker, women leader and member of the state assembly.
