I WILL SUCCEED IN ABUJA – FCT MINISTER

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Muhammad, has restated his determination to succeed in his new assignment.

The minister stated this on Thursday during an extra-ordinary FCT executive committee meeting in Abuja.

Senator Muhammad stressed that he was not in the FCT for social gatherings but to serve the people.

He warned that he was not in the FCT to destroy anyone's career since he was also a product of the public service, stating that 'all hands must be on deck to get the job done.'

He threatened that saboteurs would not be spared and, therefore, sought for maximum cooperation from all cadres of staff.

According to him, 'It is not going to be business as usual because we must have a road map and set targets that must be met.'

He lamented that land administration had come under severe criticisms and promised that the yearnings of Nigerians would be met in that regard.

'This is the same administration with the previous ones, but with different challenges and mandate. My doors will be opened to all, for useful suggestions on how best we can move Abuja forward,' he emphasised.

On the fate of political appointees in the FCT Administration, the Minister said he was making consultations, noting that a decision would soon be taken on whether to retain or reshuffle them.

Welcoming the new minister, mandate secretaries as well as directors of the FCT operations departments, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Goke Adegoroye, said that the extra-ordinary executive meeting was convened to allow members meet and digest the road map of the new administration.

Adegoroye re-affirmed that the duty of the bureaucrats was to ensure the smooth running of the government.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Capital Development Agency's Executive Secretary, Mr. Muhammad Alhassan, secretaries of the seven mandate secretariats and as directors of the FCT's operational departments.
