SAN FRANCISCO, May 31, (THEWILL) – Like the devil let loose, rampaging Boko Haram gunmen, again on Sunday, stormed the popular Gamboru market in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, injuring four persons as they attacked the market with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

A local vigilante member, Yunus Kaka, who disclosed this, said the insurgents attacked the market at about 1:30pm.

He added that the incident caused panic among residents of the area as traders hurriedly closed shop as they scampered for safety.

Maiduguri has come under serial attacks by Boko Haram since Friday when President Muhammadu Buhari announced the relocation of the Military High Command Headquarters to the Borno State capital in order to properly tackle the insurgency.

The insurgents had earlier been repelled by the military in their attempt to seize Maiduguri in an attack that claimed 16 lives.

The insurgents returned on Saturday afternoon when a suicide bomber rocked a mosque located right inside the Monday market, killing 26 persons and injuring 28 others.

Gamboru market, on its part, had been subjected to constant attacks by Boko Haram in the recent past where several people were killed.
