Azikiwe's widow cries out over rising spate of kidnapping in Enugu

Chimmanda Adichie’s Rising spate of insecurity in Enugu State in the past few weeks has become  source of worry to the residents of the state, which had enjoyed relative in the past eight years.

Some high profile cases of kidnappings have drawn the attention of the Widow of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe,  late first president of the country, Prof. Uche Azikiwe

Kidnappers recently abducted the father of the renown novelist, Chimamanda Adachie, who resides in the serene, cosy university ton of Nsukka.

Mrs. Azikiwe expressed concerns over the abduction of   Prof. Adichie.

Adichie  is a renowned professor of statistics  who recently retired from active service in  the university.

Mrs Azikiwe, herself a resident of the university town,  on Sunday deplored the increasing state of insecurity in Enugu which culminated in high profile kidnap cases within the past one week.

She therefore called on all  relevant security agencies to check the rising ugly trend.

Apart from Adichie,  other cases of kidnappings in the state in the past one week include  the immediate  former head of service  of Enugu state, Nze Dennis Eze, and a legal practitioner, Mr. Charles Ugwu, among others.

Another case was that of a business mogul and philanthropist based abroad, Mr. Okonkwo Onu,  who hails from Ogbodu village in Igbo-Eze North Council area of the state as well as the manager of a guest house at Aji community also  in the same council area had been kidnapped by hoodlums who sought ransoms.
