IDPs: Golden penny donated 7.5m worth of food items to Adamawa state government

Golden Penny Company has donated food items to Adamawa state Government for on-ward distribution to Internally Displaced Persons in the state.

The food items is worth seven point five million naira that was earmarked by the company to give to the state government as part of the company's corporate social responsibility.

While receiving the items at the cooperative stores in Jimeta, Governor Bala James Nggilari said the donation is timely.

The governor who appreciated the gesture, explained that the state government is touched by the show of concern by the company, whose activities according to the governor, speaks volume.

He narrated that the state government had contended with insurgency, a situation that left the state unable to embark on any more intervention.

Governor Nggilari stressed that the intervention is therefore a big relief especially considering economic hardship been experienced pointing out that most states are unable to pay salaries of their workers.

He warned that those who consume relief materials meant for IDPs will attract curse upon himself and assured that he will personnaly supervise the distribution of the materials.

Spaeking earlier, Company Secretary of the Golden Penny Company, Alhaji Yusuf Olalekun Saliu said the donation has become neccessary to compliment government's effort in improving the plight of IDPs in the state.

He stressed that the company is involved in activities that had created employment for Nigerians adding that the task of caring for the IDPs cannot be handled by government alone.

The Company Secretary noted that the company identified with those displaced and traumatised by activities of insurgents and reminded the governor that similar assistance was rendered to some communities in twenty twelve following flooding.

He called on coperate bodies and individuals to come to the aid of the IDPs by making donations and urged that the donation is for those displaced by insurgents.

The food items include two hundred and fifty bags of rice, four hundred cartons of supergetti, four hundred cartons of Macuroni, three hundred and fifty cartons of noodles, six hundred bags of semovita and one hundred bags of golden vita.
