Justice Is Not Restricted To A Tribunal—Princewill

Our attention has been drawn to a recent statement credited to the Rivers State, APC Chairman, Dr Davies Ibiamu; congratulating Governorship candidates including that of the Labour Party (LP), for joining APC’s governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, to challenge the results of the just concluded elections in the election tribunal.

We want to state it clearly, that Prince Tonye Princewill has no intention of visiting the election tribunal. His decision not to go, was taken and made public many weeks ago after wide consultations.

‎In his words,
"We are not inclined to go down the road of a huge legal expense to pursue "justice" in court since a repeat election, if it were to come, may only reproduce an even bloodier outcome which will also too be the subject of litigation. Where will it end? In spite of the flaws in the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission still went ahead to announce a winner. As law abiding citizens, we can not stop him but we promise him, we will always be here to remind him (Wike), Rivers state must always come first. God is not sleeping."

The political climate is hot and some politicians will do anything it takes to achieve their selfish goals, including riding on propaganda and falsehood. We urge the public to ignore any statement linking Prince Tonye Princewill to ‎the election petition tribunal or any form of alignment with either the APC or the PDP. Being different and standing in favour of peace may be awkward but Rivers people need one of us here.

The other two are birds of the same feather, fruits of the same tree and two sides of the same coin. The violence that marred the election was perpetrated by both APC and PDP. If APC want to pursue justice, they should feel free to do so without bringing the Prince into their matter. Justice is not only justice when the Prince is part of it.

We want to thank God for sparing the lives of our party members and call on politicians who engaged in violence to seek God's mercy before God's justice visits them. Justice is not limited to only a tribunal.
