PUBLIC OPINION: the destinies of Nigerians with Buhari

By funnyboychukzy

I must start by congratulating the President-elect, Major-General. Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the polls, after many trials, it reminds me of the saying; ‘try and never relent.’ I must commend his efforts and ability in breaking down the strong-hold of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the apex of Nigerian politics, it was becoming more like a monarchical government, it is a welcomed development.

During his campaigns, Buhari made some pronouncements that he is finding it very difficult to handle since victory at the polls. He condemned out rightly the government of the People Democratic Party (PDP) promising to effect changes if elected as president. They thought he was an action man being a retired military man. Now, he has got what he wanted, he has tasted a bit the soup of democratic presidency in Nigeria, he now wears the shoes, he knows where it pinches.

I must confess, with his recent media declarations that Nigerians should not expect miracles from him, the expectation of Nigerians towards his government is alarming, I am not surprised. I have always known General. Buhari as incapable since the Buhari-Idiagbon regime of 1983-1985. Ask yourselves, was Buhari efficient then? Buhari does not know how to tell Nigerians that he will fail them that he cannot deliver because he is trapped by the words of his mouth, he is saying we should not expect miracle from him. Did he not present himself as a miracle-worker? He came out as one that had the Midas touch, as the alchemist. Now he knows the sour taste of the soup, he wants to spit it out.

This is not a prophesy or a message of doom, it is foreshadowing. I just want to prepare the hearts of Nigerians to zero their minds towards Buhari-Osinbajo’s government; Nigeria will remain what it was ab initio. Nemo dat quod non habet- you don’t give what you don’t have.

Come as from May 29th , we will give Buhari our supports but he should put this in mind, he should never play sectional politics, or destroy the peace of his predecessor’s geo-political zone. Let every nook and cranny benefit from the dividend of democracy.
