Ojudu must come our clean on Ekiti crises, APC youths insist

By Tope Ogunkuade

Youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) have said that no amount of press releases from Lagos based “chop I chop” civil rights groups can exonerate the Senator representing Ekiti Central senatorial district, Babafemi Ojudu from his destabilisation roles in the State.

The youths said Senator Ojudu should rather come out clean on the roles he played against the governments of Otunba Niyi Adebayo between 1999 and 2003, Ayodele Fayose between 2003 and 2006, Engr Segun Oni between 2007 and 2010, and the roles he played immediately Dr Kayode Fayemi lost the June 21, 2014 governorship election.

Reacting to a statement credited to the Nigerian Human Rights Community (NHRC), the APC youths said in a press statement issued on Thursday and jointly signed by Mr Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, that Senator Ojudu should be ashamed that he had to recruit people from Lagos to speak in his defence.

The Nigerian Human Rights Community (NHRC), which claimed to be a coalition of 35 civil rights groups, had called on Senator Ojudu to intensify the campaign for the impeachment of Governor AyodeleFayose.

However, in its reaction, EAYC said; “If the ultimate beneficiary of Fayose’s impeachment will be someone like Senator Ojudu, we youths in the APC will wash our hands off it. This is because as a senator, Ojudu cannot point to one single youth in the APC that he assisted. Even his father’s house in Ado-Ekiti, he left it in dilapidated form.

“Apart from fighting against governors in the State and pulling their governments down, Ojudu cannot point to one single benefit that he has brought to Ekiti before and now that he is a senator.

“We even wonder why he (Ojudu) is not ashamed that he had to recruit faceless civil rights groups from Lagos to defend him, instead of youths in Ekiti State rising up to defend him.”

The youths reiterated their warning to Senator Ojudu to retrace his steps, and stop leading rebellion against former Governor Kayode Fayemi, adding that; “Fayemi is the only leader of the APC in Ekiti State that we know.

“Ojudu and his Action Group can go and form their own party if they want a party which will be controlled by someone like Ojudu that cannot win election even in his own father’s house.”
