The Indonesian Executions...My Take...
Before you agree to be engaged as a drug courier, visualize being judicially killed in any of the following ways: A knife to your throat till your head is severed from the rest of your body....like a goat or chicken...without anaesthesia.
A hail of hot bullets to your brain...or heart.
A noose around your neck!
Recent news indicate that some persons mainly foreigners, have been executed in Indonesia.
This nation rather than hearken to passionate pleas for clemency, would rather make a public show of such termination of human lives...
Public notices. Personal notices of 72 hours to the condemned men. Memos to relations. Arrival of coffins. Pre-marked with names of eventual occupants!
But Indonesians warn you of the consequences of bringing drugs into their nation.... You are notified by posters and billboards everywhere of the sure consequences of your action. Death!
So you know your fate before you risk the gamble. You know the game you are playing. A game of death!
The death that hard drugs, your ignoble merchandise brings to bear on Indonesian youth... Your Target market...who die by the thousands and in millions!
You deliberately commit this crime to make quick and easy money...rest assured that your country would come scrounging for clemency on your behalf!
As you get caught, your hosts try you in their courts.
The trials and appeals and clemency applications take a long time. So, executions are by no means immediate!
Presidents of foreigners who intentionally flout Indonesian laws are hypocrites!
Even Indonesian presidents enjoy being seen to plead for clemency for their condemned citizens abroad!
Foreign governments should rather direct their efforts to admonishing and warning their citizens to be of good character when abroad!
And those rulers should desist from stealing their nation's resources and funds...poverty being the compelling force driving determined survivors into a life of crime!
Even President Goodluck Jonathan who had our nation's resources so fleeced under his watch and saw corruption so ignored, nortured and institutionalized had no qualms about pleading directly for clemency for the condemned Nigerians!
Ditto our national legislooters whose incredibly huge salaries and allowances....the highest in the world...and directly contributing to wholesale poverty in the land!
They also sent a delegation to Indonesia to shop for clemency! Someone should have told them that the real clemency required by the entire nation...not just condemned men and women....is a change of heart by our rulers....to stop looting our treasury!
Nigeria has near-zero respect for the lives of her own citizens at home.
Extra-judicial killings on a regular basis and with such impunity in our police formations!
Contract killing by greedy policemen who also subject citizens to torture...unto death! Death from starvation consequent upon unemployment!
Ritual murders!
The list is endless....
