PDP governors want Mu'azu, NWC members out

By The Rainbow

Smarting from the crushing defeat of their party in the hands of opposition All Progressives Congress in the recent general elections, Governors elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, rose from their meeting in Abuja with a resolve that  the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu and other members of its National Working Committee should take the path of honour and resign immediately.

In the meeting of 19 PDP governors held Tuesday night, at Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, the governors resolved that it had become imperative for NWC members to go to pave way for new leadership.

The party’s Presidential candidate, President Jonathan was defeated by APC’s General Muhammad Buhari  at the March 28.

The governors were meeting for the first time since PDP lost the presidency after 16 years of leadership.

The party, which controlled the Presidency, House of Representatives and the Senate since 1999, did not only suffer defeat at the presidential election, but also lost in its traditional states of Plateau, Niger, Kaduna, Benue, Bauchi and Jigawa.

It became the opposition party in the Senate with 46 senators, while APC has 60.

Reports indicate that Muazu, his deputy, Prince Uche Secondus and National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwon, and all 19 governors were  in attendance but were later asked to excuse the governors.

It was after they had left that the governors resolved that it would be necessary to inject new blood in the party and that the NWC members have to be edged out.
