Kogi Radio attack: Police IG orders tight security at media houses

Following the attack by gunmen on Tao FM radio station in Kogi State on Monday, the Acting Inspector-General of Police(IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, has ordered a water-tight security around media houses across the country.

Gunmen had on Monday night, attacked the radio station located at Kuroko, Adavi Local Government Area, killing five people.

The IGP, who said the provision of security for media houses in the country has become necessary, said, 'this is in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to protect lives and property of the citizenry under the law'.

In a statement signed by the Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, the IGP said while noting the roles played by the media to the enthronement of democracy in the country, he called on journalists and the public to be more vigilant and proactive and report any suspicious movement or persons to the police.
