President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari has commended the media for their roles in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking at the 2015 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos on Saturday, Buhari said practitioners in the media industry deserved commendation for facilitating a peaceful and credible poll.

Represented by the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the president-elect noted that the meeting of the NGE was very important because of the role editors play in nation-building.

President of the NGE, Femi Adesina, said the Guild had been able to raise N200m for the construction of its National Secretariat in Abuja.

A former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, also at the convention, described any editor, who compromised in discharging his or her duties, as a disgrace to journalism.
