Ihedioha Withdraws From The Race.......Opts For Ministerial Appointment

By Uche Onwuchekwa

The news makingnthe rounds has it that the controversial PDP gubernatorial candidate and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representaives has withdrawn from the supplementary election.

The unconfirmed report has it that he may have succeeded in his effort in lobbying the high ranking leaders of All Progressives Congress.

It will be recalled that some newspapers had reported that the Mbutu born maverick politician has reached out to Tambuwal and other high profile APC leaders to help him secure victory in his gubernatorial ambition but was turned down.

However, from an impeccable source, Ihedioha is purported to have bought into a second option of surrendering participating in the supplementary election describing his chances at the poll as unttainable.

It will be recalled that in the last Imo gubernatorial election, the incumbent Governor, Owelle Anayo Okorocha had polled over 386, 000 votes against Ihedioha's padded figure of over 300, 000 votes while over 250 polling units of over 113, 000 votes were cancelled. In the last April 11 elections, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is leading PDP with over 79, 000 votes.

The source opined that having known that it is almost an impossible task to square up with Governor Okorocha whose popularity has been tested and confirmed even at the grassroots.

It was said the Mbaise born politician after consultating widely resolved to drop the elusive ambition to seek acceptance in the party for a possible political appointment so as to remain relevant politically.

Therefore, tomorrow re-run exercise might just be a mere formality. People can only wait as the events unfold.
